Retired U.S. Army Reserve Colonel Stacy Garrity

Treasurer of Pennsylvania

Stacy Garrity is a retired U.S. Army Reserve Colonel who served for 30 years in the Army Reserve, including three deployments during the Gulf War and Iraq War. She was awarded the Bronze Star twice and the Legion of Merit for her service. Garrity was also known as “The Angel of the Desert” for her performance at Camp Bucca in Iraq, where she managed an internment camp without any reported abuse of detainees. She left the Army Reserve in 2016 at the rank of colonel and has since been involved in politics, serving as the Treasurer of Pennsylvania since 2021.

Maj. Gen. John R Pippy

Adjutant General of Pennsylvania

Major General John R. Pippy was sworn in as the 55th Adjutant General of Pennsylvania in February of 2025.

In his role, he is both Commander of the third-largest national Guard in the country and Secretary of the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs under Governor Josh Shapiro. 

MG Pippy is a 1992 graduate of The United States Military Academy in West Point, NY. He has served in a variety of other command and staff positions within the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, including two deployments to the Middle East. 

MG Pippy also served in the Pennsylvania General Assembly for 16 years, retiring in 2012 from the Senate after serving nine years as a State Senator and seven years in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. 

Pippy is a resident of Moon Township, Pennsylvania with his wife, Kathy. They have one adult daughter, Katelyn.

Prior to assuming this position, Pippy most recently served as the director, Joint Staff, Joint Force Headquarters, Pennsylvania National Guard, and as the deputy chief of engineers for National Guard Affairs at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineer Headquarters (Washington D.C). 

He has also served in a variety of other command and staff positions within the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, which included two deployments to the Middle East. He deployed as the engineer director and headquarters battalion commander of Special Operations Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve from September 2016 to July 2017.
